Why I Started Meal Planning (And Why You Should Too)
Two years ago, every evening around 5 PM was the same story: kids hungry and cranky, me standing in front of the fridge wondering what to make, and dinner ending up being whatever I could throw together fastest (usually pasta... again).
Then I Discovered Meal Planning
A friend suggested I try planning my meals for the week on Sundays. I was skeptical - it sounded like another thing to add to my to-do list. But I was desperate, so I tried it.
The Results Were Immediate
Less stress: No more 5 PM panic. I knew exactly what I was making each night.
Healthier eating: When I plan ahead, I actually include vegetables. When I wing it, we end up with frozen chicken nuggets.
Saving money: I buy only what I need for the week. No more random impulse purchases that end up wilting in the fridge.
Less food waste: I plan meals that use similar ingredients, so nothing goes to waste.
How I Do It
Every Sunday morning with my coffee, I look at our week and plan 5 dinners (we usually have leftovers and one takeout night). I check what I already have, make a grocery list, and shop once for the week.
It takes me about 30 minutes on Sunday, but it saves me hours of stress and decision-making during the week. Plus, my kids love knowing what's for dinner - they even help me plan now!
Try it for just one week. I promise you'll never go back.
