The Truth About Running a Business from Home with Kids
Let me be real with you: running a business from home while raising kids is both the most rewarding and most challenging thing I've ever done.
The Reality
Some days, I'm taking client calls with a toddler tugging at my leg. Other days, I'm up at 5 AM working before everyone wakes up. It's not the Instagram-perfect life people imagine, but it's MY life, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
What Actually Works
Boundaries are essential. I've learned to create dedicated work time and stick to it. When I'm working, the kids know mommy is in 'work mode.' When I'm with them, I put the phone away.
Flexibility is your friend. Some days, work happens during nap time. Other days, it's after bedtime. I've given up on the idea of a 'typical' workday, and that's freed me up so much.
Ask for help. This was the hardest lesson for me. But whether it's a babysitter for a few hours, trading childcare with a friend, or getting your partner more involved - you can't do it all alone.
The Beautiful Part
My kids see me working hard, pursuing my dreams, and building something meaningful. They're learning that moms can do big things. And when they grow up, they'll remember that mommy was always there for the important moments, even while running a business.
Is it easy? No. Is it worth it? Absolutely.
